Online Safety

At Pear Tree High School, we take online safety very seriously and are committed to helping students and their families stay safe in an increasingly digital world. Technology plays an important role in how young people communicate with friends, learn new skills and access information. However, the online world also presents risks, and it is important that both students and parents/carers understand how to recognise and reduce these risks. 

Many of our students may be more vulnerable online due to their learning needs, communication difficulties or social understanding. This can make it harder to recognise unsafe situations, identify misinformation, or understand the intentions of others. For this reason, we place a strong emphasis on developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to use technology safely, responsibly and positively. 

At Pear Tree High School, online safety is taught explicitly each Spring Term, and all of our Computing modules include relevant online safety links and themes. Online safety is also reinforced through our PSHE curriculum and across wider school life. We work to ensure that students understand how to protect themselves online, build positive digital relationships and know where to seek help if they have concerns.
